BRAZOS VALLEY COMMUNICATIONS AND KROGER
NAMED 2011 COMMUNITY ACTION PARTNERS OF THE YEAR

The BVCAA, Inc. Community Action Partner of the Year Award is an annual award begun in 2007 to help commemorate the 35th Anniversary of Brazos Valley Community Action Agency, Inc.

The award is presented in May at the BVCAA, Inc Annual Meeting which is held in conjunction with National Community Action Month.

The award is given to businesses, organizations or individuals who have exemplified outstanding support of helping to better the lives of our neighbors in the Brazos Valley through funding, volunteering or program support and development.

The 2011 Community Action Partners of the Year were Brazos Valley Communitcations and Kroger.

For over four years, Brazos Valley Communications has donated time on the KORA Roger and Roy with Devan morning show every week. Each Thursday morning, at 8:50, a guest from BVCAA, is given free air time to share all things BVCAA with the community. Not only has Brazos Valley Communications donated air time, they have also sponsored various agency events and Sales Manager, John Seigler, also shared his time by serving on the BVCAA Community Outreach Advisory Board.

KORA is most recognized in the community as the sponsoring radio station for Radio MASH, which collects toys and gifts for thousands of area youth each holiday season. MASH is just one of numerous examples of the dedication Brazos Valley Communications has shown to the community. Please welcome General Manager, Chris Kiske, as he receives the award on behalf of Brazos Valley Communications.

Kroger has been instrumental in assisting BVCAA with our breast cancer prevention initiative. The Kroger Company has a long history of service to the communities where they have operations. Associate donations and in-store fundraising generated $30 Million in contributions to support local campaigns focused on breast cancer research, children’s hospitals and more. The patients undergoing breast cancer prevention programs at the BVCAA Community Health Centers have benefitted from the kindness of the Kroger Associates and customers and we are grateful for all they continue to do for the community.
