Update! Kroger Customers Continue to Give

On Thursday, June 25, Wayne Tomlinson of Kroger presented BVCAA with another check. The funds donated were further contributions from Kroger customers and will be used for the prevention of breast cancer. Continued thanks to all those who are helping people and changing lives!

Team BVCAA Wins BCS Chamber Fitness Challenge

Kroger Donates over $7,000 to BVCAA for Breast Cancer PreventionCongratulations to BVCAA Executive Director, Karen Garber, General Accountant, Mary Lou Nettles, Director of Information Technology, Brian Thurston and Director of Marketing and Community Outreach, Kari Krueger on their victory in the first ever BCS Chamber Fitness Challenge. Motivated by trainers, Duce and Julie of Snap Fitness, the team worked together and lost a combined total of 112.2 pounds and are now 12.38% lighter than they were 12 weeks ago. Great work Team BVCAA!!!

Health Care Providers Endorse Bipartisan Plan to Address Primary Care Shortage

Health care providers, clinic administrators, patients and community leaders have called for immediate passage of House Bill 1876 during a series of news conferences throughout Texas. Texas faces a severe shortage of primary care providers. H.B. 1876 would establish the Texas Health Care Access Fund to help solve this critical problem.

NAMI-BV Offering Free Training and New Support Group

The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Brazos Valley (NAMI-BV) in collaboration with BVCAA has approved funding for two sorely needed programs in the Brazos Valley.

Train the Trainer. Funding was approved to train three new peer educators and two new family educators.

Peer Support Group. The third Thursday of each month, a support group will meet to serve persons with mood disorders and other major disorders such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, anxiety disorders, depression and bi-polar disorder.

BVCAA has consolidated four offices into one and has a new home at 1500 University Drive in College Station. This new location will reduce administrative costs and allow BVCAA to increase its capacity to serve our twelve county service area.
